Lake City’s Breanna Gates dropped 37 points to push the Tigers past Triton for a 68-63 Hiawatha Valley League victory Friday at Lincoln High School.

With the victory, Lake City (10-11, 5-10 HVL) won consecutive games for the first time in over a month.

Following Gates’ big night, Madi Green scored 11 points and Allison Kubista added 10 in the Tigers’ victory.

The Cobras (3-18, 0-15 HVL) had four players in double digits, led by Haley Staffon’s 16 points. Mateah Lamoree (14), Emily Hodgman (12) and Piper Yankowiak (10) also finished in double figures. The loss was Triton’s ninth straight.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Lake City and Triton face off again Monday in a make-up game in Dodge Center. The Tigers then play at Cannon Falls on Tuesday and Pine Island on Feb. 21.
