Seventh-seeded Cannon Falls saw its season come to a close Thursday, losing to No. 2 Hayfield 75-36 in the opening round of the Section 1AA-West tournament in Hayfield.

Maggie Rutter led the way for the Bombers with 13 points, while teammate Courtney Woodcock had nine points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Dani Wagner led the Vikings with 25 points, while teammate Johanna Bungum hit three 3-pointers on the way to a nine-point night. Bhrett Zahnle finished with 12 points in the victory.

With the victory, Hayfield (20-5) will take on No. 3 seed Dover-Eyota at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

Cannon Falls end the year at 4-22 overall.
