Frederick "Fritz" Hahn, 96
Frederick "Fritz" Hahn, age 96, of Red Wing, died on Sunday, Nov. 3, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1917, in Zumbrota, to Frederick and Alice (Zimmer) Hahn. He attended Red Wing schools. He served in Company H, 123rd Infantry Regt., 23rd Division of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was deployed on the South Pacific front, and in occupied Japan. After his discharge, he worked for Red Wing Locker, Munson Freight, and Reichert Bottling, finally retiring from S.B. Foot Tannery. On May 7, 1949, he married Eleanor Hoof of Minneapolis. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post #1218, and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Frederick is survived by his daughter, Joanne Hahn of Colorado; son, Peter Hahn of Red Wing; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Blaness, and Mabel DePuy; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Jean Walagoski) Hoof; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; grandson, Clifford Hohnstein; his parents; sisters, Olinda Vance, Barbara Almquist, Emma Hahn, and Freda Tredup; and brothers, Jacob Hahn, Otto Hahn, and Edward Hahn.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
