Football: Rushford-Peterson hands Goodhue SFA loss
Rushford-Peterson took a first-quarter, two-touchdown lead, then added three more scores in the second quarter to get past Goodhue Wednesday in a Southern Football Alliance Blue division contest.
Garett Huemann had a 1-yard touchdown run with 3 minutes, 9 seconds remaining in the first quarter to get the Wildcats on the board, and cut the Trojans’ lead to 14-6.
Huemann would add a receiving touchdown at 3:27 of the second quarter on a 4-yard pass from Tyler Schumacher.
Garett Huemann finished with 15 yards on seven carries, while Riley Huemann added 72 yards on 13 rushes. Schumacher completed 11 of 32 passes for 202 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Sam McNamara caught six passes for 147 yards.
The Trojans totaled 490 yards of offense, led by quarterback Jonnie Koenen’s 267 yards passing and Alex Vix’s 156 yards on the ground.
Goodhue (3-5, 3-5 SFA Blue) will open the Section 1A playoffs Tuesday, though site and opponent will not be known until Thursday.
