In a Southern Football Alliance Red division game that featured 96 points and 940 yards of combined offense, La Crescent came away with the 62-34 victory over Lake City on Wednesday night.

The fireworks started early, with the Tigers jumping out to a 14-13 first-quarter lead thanks to an 18-yard touchdown run by Reid Lundell and a 3-yard rush from Luke Hartzell.

In the first four minutes of the second quarter, La Crescent went up 27-14 after a 33-yard touchdown run from Levi Massman and a 91-yard punt return for a score from Zack Kadlec. Hartzell cut Lake City’s deficit to 27-20 after a 12-yard touchdown run, but the Lancers tacked on two more scores before halftime: an 18-yard pass from Massman to Kadlec and a 2-yard Austin DeBoer run.

During the first half alone, La Crescent had 339 yards of total offense, while Lake City rattled off 246.

After two first-half rushing touchdowns, DeBoer became a wrecking ball in the second half with touchdown runs of 13, 34 and 69 yards. By the time the game ended, DeBoer accounted for five touchdowns and 294 of La Crescent’s 465 rushing yards.

Hartzell had a pair of second-half scores with touchdown runs of 20 and 3 yards, finishing his night with 193 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries. Reid Lundell had 84 yards on 16 carries and was 8 of 21 passing for 101 yards and an interception. Easton Cox was the Tigers’ top receiver with 47 yards on three catches.

Michael Noll had a Lake City-best 16 tackles, and Eli Custer had eight tackles, including three for loss.

Both the Tigers and Lancers end the regular season at 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the SFA Red. Section 1AAA seedings will be announced on Thursday.
