Football: Goodhue struggles with top-ranked Caledonia
Goodhue was able to eat up some serious clock en route to its first touchdown Friday against Caledonia. But the nearly 10-minute drive was all the Warriors would allow as the Wildcats fell 40-8 to the top-ranked team in Class 2A.
Caledonia responded to Riley Huemann’s 2-yard touchdown run by scoring four second-quarter touchdowns to take a 27-8 halftime lead. A third-quarter touchdown, coupled with a fourth-quarter score closed the books on Caledonia’s dominating performance.
The Wildcats totaled 193 yards of offense, led by Garett Huemann’s 12 carries for 49 yards.
Caledonia gouged Goodhue for 363 rushing yards, and 438 total yards. Ryan Pitts scored four times on the ground, carrying 10 times for 148 yards.
Goodhue (1-3) will host Wabasha-Kellogg in a SFA Blue showdown next Friday.
