Felling takes top honors in Wingman Tri
Jim Felling, of River Falls, came away as the winner of the fifth annual Wingman Triathlon Sunday in Red Wing.
Felling, 34, finished the triathlon with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, 35 seconds. After a time of 8:59 in the swim and 18:38 in the running portion, Felling excelled on the bike with the top split of 34:10. Jacob Huot (1:04:35), Garrett Welsch (1:06:12), Tim O’Reilly (1:09:50) and Sam Tift (1:10:21) rounded out the top five.
The course consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 12.7-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run.
Megan Westhoff, 35, was the winner of the women’s race with a time of 1:13:47. The bike portion of the race proved to be Westhoff’s strength as she put in a time of 40:17. Janneke Sobeck (1:15:05) and Cicci Laffey (1:20:25) rounded out the top three.
The triathlon also featured relay teams, with Tanner Alms, Marcus Warrington and Aiden Winn taking the top men’s relay time (56:58), and Stacey Sadowski, Amanda Heinntz and Liz Knapp finishing with the top women’s relay time (1:16:06).
