Ellsworth wrestlers win 11th straight MBC title


OSCEOLA - The Ellsworth High School wrestling team crowned eight individual champions at the Middle Border Conference meet Saturday and thus were crowned team champions once again for the 11th straight time.


The No. 1 ranked Panthers spread over runner-up, No. 5 ranked Amery was 298.5 to 234 with New Richmond in third at 165.5 and Prescott fourth at 126.

Winning titles for EHS were four-time MBC champ Jens Lantz at 126 pounds, Tristan Mueller at 138; Jacob Fuchs at 145, Josh Hines at 152, Gabe Frandsen at 160; Logan Kemmerer at 170, Dennis Schutz at 182 and Brock Steldt at 195. Gabe Mancino at 113, Brad Cain at 132 and Brodey Kemmerer at heavyweight all finished second and Andrew Swanson at 106, Anders Lantz at 120 and Kenny Stowe at 220 finished third.

Prescott's top finishers took second which include Sam Hoopingarener at 106, Paul Hansen at 126 and Troy Urman 152.  Alex Stuhl placed third at 132.

Both Ellsworth and Prescott will compete in the WIAA Division 2 Ellsworth Regional next Saturday.
