Editorial: The week of women
This week has been a powerful one for local women.
On Sunday, the Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity kicked off its Women Build. This was among the most successful launches for a home build in chapter history.
On Wednesday, Women's Network inducted Helen Bell, Joan Foot, Pam Horlitz and Neela Mollgaard into its hall of fame. The honorees have dedicated themselves to improving the community through service in everything from civic clubs to elected office, from the classroom to the boardroom.
And today, the Red Wing High School girls basketball team plays for the Class 3A title. For these young women, reaching the big game may mean everything. For the women who grew up unable to play school sports and for those who won that battle in the 1970s, the Wingers' journey means so much more.
Local women continue to build a better community one nail, one project and one bucket at a time.
