Editorial: Plugged in
Xcel Energy, Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services and Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Association line crews showed their stuff this week, working around the clock to move trees and restore power to thousands of homeowners, businesses and government offices.
Meanwhile, staff at those restaurants that had power cheerfully served table after table of hungry, cold residents seeking warmth and sustenance where they could.
And, as a letterwriter states elsewhere on this page, public employees from trash collectors and recycling crews to snowplow drivers and first responders did their jobs.
Neighbors helped dig out neighbors.
The list goes on and on.
We encourage citizens to celebrate that this late-season storm has shown that our communities truly are plugged in -- to what's important.
