Eckhoff gets nearly 11 years for drug charge

A Dodge Center, Minn., man was sentenced in Goodhue County District Court to 129 months in prison Friday for second-degree drug possession.

Kyle Steven Eckhoff, 37, entered a guilty plea to the felony charge in May. According to a court complaint filed Aug. 30, 2012, sheriff's deputies found about 265 grams of methamphetamine inside Eckhoff's vehicle.

Eckhoff had been sitting in the vehicle while it was parked in the Wanamingo Cenex parking lot. Eckhoff had given officers to search his vehicle.

During sentencing, First District Judge Larry Clark told Eckhoff that he will get credit for 296 days already served. Eckhoff will serve the sentence in Minnesota Correctional Facility-St. Cloud.

In the court complaint, Eckhoff stated that he had previously served a 10-year prison sentence for manufacturing methamphetamine.
