Duane Grant Thompson, 82
Duane Grant Thompson, 82, of Diamond Bluff, died Wednesday, March 19, at his home.
He was born on October 7, 1931 in Weston, Wisconsin to Grant and Edna (Ballard) Thompson. He attended schools in Red Wing and then served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Ava Morkin and they later divorced. He lived in Ellsworth until 1961 when he moved to Bay City until 1980. For a short time he lived in Vancouver, Washington and then in St. Paul where he worked for Armour Company until retiring. Since 1987, he has resided in Diamond Bluff. His family recalls how he always enjoyed working on Allis Chalmers tractors.
Survivors include five children, Connie Thompson of Eagan, Gene (Diane) Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Wendy Thompson of Ellsworth, Lynn Thompson of Bay City and Randy (Julie) Thompson of Diamond Bluff; three grandchildren, Dustin Thompson, Victoria Thompson and Jenna Gutierrez; one brother, Emmet (Alice) Thompson of Casa Grande, Arizona; and one sister, Louetta (Vaughn) Syeffer of Pepin along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Royce and Ron; and one sister, Donna Thompson.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Kelley Adelsmann officiating.
