Driver injured after falling out of his own moving vehicle

A 21-year-old Minnesota man was injured on Wisconsin Highway 10 after falling out a moving vehicle he was driving and possibly being run over by an empty car hauler he was pulling, the Pepin County Sheriff's Department said. It is not believed the fall was intentional.

The man was transported by Durand Ambulance Service to Chippewa Valley Hospital for head and upper-body injuries. He was later transported by air to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire with life-threatening injuries, according to a press release.

Three other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the incident were not injured.

The Pepin County Sheriff's Department and Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating.
