Red Wing Police Chief Tim Sletten talked to the School Board about increasing the amount the district pays the city for its two police liaison officers -- one at Twin Bluff Middle School and one at Red Wing High School.
Currently, the district pays $15,000 per year for the two officers, Sletten said. He is asking the board to consider increasing the payment to $63,000, which is half the total bill for the two officers for nine months of the year. The district gets the funds from the safety levy. There has not been a formal contract, and Sletten said he looked to other cities in modeling the current proposal. The board expects to decide on Feb. 4.
