Dental truck to stop in Pierce County
Dental Services will soon be returning to Pierce County residents. The previous dental clinic began in 2004 in response to the unmet oral health needs of low-income children.
Due to funding and staffing challenges the program was put on hold at the end of 2012. Now the dental service is partnering with Southside Community Health Services, Southside Dental - a federally qualified health center based out of the Twin Cities that recently expanded its mobile dental unit to western Wisconsin.
The mobile dental van will provide care to patients with BadgerCare who often struggle to find a provider. The van also will provide dental services on a sliding fee scale to those without insurance.
This mobile dental unit has two full dental stations with the capacity for 12 adult appointments per day or 24 appointments per day for children.
Plans are to schedule Southside Dental to provide this service one to two days per month behind the Pierce County office building beginning May 13 and 14.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Southside Dental at 612-822-9030 or 877-938-9341.
