Curtis K. Diercks, 72, died Tuesday, July 30, at Season's Hospice in Rochester, Minn.
Curtis Kermit Diercks was born Oct. 12, 1940, to Kermit and Lorna (Klindworth) Diercks in Red Wing, Minn. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1958. Curtis worked as a delivery driver for Reynold's Wholesale from 1969-1995 and then Daube's Bakery until he retired in 2006. He married Rachel Boyum on May 24, 1969, in Pine Island, Minn. She died on Aug. 3, 1995. He later married Sandra E. Meyer on Sept. 5, 2003, in Rochester.
He enjoyed old-time dancing, square dancing, playing cards, watching sports, and gardening. Curtis was a regular blood donor and enjoyed volunteering to help kindergarten children to learn to read. He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Sandy Diercks, Rochester; a daughter, Nicole Diercks, Rochester; two brothers, Dallas (Brooke) Diercks, Sun Prairie, Wis., and Eugene (Peggy) Diercks, Oak Park Heights, Minn.; three stepsons: Tracy (Susan) Serfoss, Preston, Minn.; William (Susan) Frazer, Spring Valley, Minn.; and Robert Frazer, Decorah, Iowa; three step-grandsons, Dallas Serfoss, Nathanial Frazer, and Benjamin Frazer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rachel; and a brother, Lyle.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, in Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island, Minn.
