CRWP hosting free cover crops workshop
Cover Crops 101, a free workshop sponsored by the Cannon River Watershed Partnership and University of Minnesota Extension, will run 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Rice County Fairgrounds, 1900 Fairgrounds Drive No. 17, Faribault, Minn.
The workshop will explain how cover crops can reduce nitrogen inputs, prevent weed growth, hold soil in place and increase infiltration, among other things.
A panel of local farmers will share their experiences with cover crops and an overview presentation will be given by Extension's Jill Sackett and the Natural Resource Conservation Service's Tom Coffman.
A pizza supper will be provided. Pre-registration is requested to allow for an accurate meal count.
To register, contact Mike Donnelly with the Rice County Extension Office at 507-332-6109 or email@example.com.
