Cross-Country: Pair of second-place finishes for Tigers
Carl Kozlowski and Sidney Renelt both placed second for Lake City at Thursday’s Stewartville Invitational at Bear Cave Park. Those performances helped lead both the Tiger boys and girls to second-place finishes as a team.
The Lake City boys placed five runners in the top 32, led by Kozlowski’s time of 17 minutes, 57.9 seconds, which was 19 seconds behind Zack Emery of La Crescent. Cole Willers (15th place, 19:06.3), Mitchell Mund (16th, 19:10.1), Austin O’Flaherty (22nd, 19:22.1) and Shane Siewert (32nd, 19:55.9) were the other scoring runners for the Tigers.
Zumbrota-Mezeppa/Kenyon-Wanamingo was led by Micah Grove’s 18:51.1, which was good for 11th place. Eric Hokanson (20th, 19:13.0) and Ben Bohn (24th, 19:31.4) also placed in the top 25.
Morgan Dammann (6th, 15:58.8), Liv Kozlowski (11th, 16:22.4), Becca Goertzen (16th, 16:36.2) and Taylor Heitman (36th, 17:23.5) followed teammate Renelt, who finished 20 seconds behind winner McKenzie Kirtz of GMLOS.
Cannon Falls’ Katherin Hoffman (15:52.0) placed third as an individual, while the Bombers came in sixth as a team. Payton Cooper (17:02.6) was the only other Cannon Falls runner in the top 50.
Skyler Jacobson (16:28.5) had the top time for ZM/KW, placing 16th. Teammate Tianna Beniak (17:14.8) placed 37th.
