Country superstar entertains tonight in Goodhue
At 6 feet 6 inches tall, he's hard to miss. Country superstar Trace Adkins graces Goodhue with his presence tonight as the culmination of Volksfest peaks.
Adkins, who recently won NBC's All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, will take the stage after music from Wine & Whisky and opening band Old Dominion. The concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.
His trademark baritone voice has powered hits to the top of the charts and turned albums into platinum plaques -- selling over 10 million albums, cumulatively.
The Grammy-nominated member of the Grand Ole Opry is a television personality, actor, author, spokesman for Wounded Warrior, the American Red Cross and has performed seven USO Tours.
Adkins also played a tough-as-nails biker in "The Lincoln Lawyer," a film starring Matthew McConaughey; developed and hosted GAC's "Great American Heroes" honoring everyday Americans doing great things; and hosted the American Country Awards on FOX for three consecutive years.
His latest studio album, "Love Will ...," is about the world's greatest emotion, he said.
The first single, "Watch The World End" featuring Colbie Caillat, speaks of the undying commitment between two people who wouldn't be anywhere else, under any circumstance.
The Harlem Gospel Choir backs Adkins on the title track, "Love Will" in the gospel tradition of spreading love and inspiration.
Country rock group Exile joined him on a new version of "Kiss You All Over."
Tickets for tonight's show are $30 in advance, $40 at the gate. Pick them up at Joe's Mobile in Red Wing or Kwik Trips in Zumbrota, Lake City or Rochester. Gates open at 6 p.m.
