Counterfit bills used at local business
The use of counterfeit $20 bills amounting to $300 was reported to Red Wing police Tuesday morning.
Walmart, 295 S. Tyler Road, discovered the bills shortly after 7:30 a.m., and police say there is a suspect.
The Rochester Post Bulletin reported Thursday that counterfeit $20 bills were used Monday night at a McDonald’s in Byron, Minn.
Later that night Rochester police were called to Walgreens at South Broadway and 14th Street Southwest in Rochester where an employee told police three people had attempted to purchase items with counterfeit $20 bills.
Close to a month ago, counterfeit bills were used at the Red Wing Walmart as well as two Walmart locations in Rochester.
Red Wing Police Chief Roger Pohlman said he didn’t know if the most recent incident at the Red Wing Walmart was in any way connected to previous incidents.
The case has been referred to the Goodhue County Attorney Office, Pohlman said.
