Church Women United plans May event
Church Women United will celebrate May Friendship Day at 11:30 a.m. Friday May 3 at United Lutheran Church. The theme is "Swing Wide the Doors of Hospitality," and lunch will be served.
Tickets are available for $6 from participating churches.
Women's seminar theme is 'God's Beloved Daughter'
"Moving Out of Hiding, Beyond Hurting and Into Healing" will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday April 30 at New River Assembly of God, 240 Spates Ave.
Mary Reuter, site facilitator, will present "God's Beloved Daughter." The small-group Bible Study is confidential.

Pierce County Ecumenical Choir ends tour
The Pierce County Ecumenical Choir will give its final performance of "No Stone Could Hold Him" at 7 p.m. April 28 at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.
Lloyd Larson composed the cantata to pay "dynamic witness to the living rock of our salvation," the choir said in a statement. Ann Turner directs the ensemble.
Sale supports Tennessee mission trip
First Lutheran Church youths will hold a quilt raffle until their May 2-4 garage sale, which will run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Proceeds will help fund a mission trip to Nashville, Tenn.
Christ Episcopal plans sale
Christ Episcopal Church, 621 West Ave., will hold a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday May 3 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday May 4. All proceeds will go to the building maintenance fund; the church was built in the 1860s.
Russian ensemble to sing at United Lutheran
Lyra, a professional singing ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia, will sing Russian Orthodox chants and Russian folk music at a 7 p.m. concert Sunday April 28 at United Lutheran Church, 628 W. Fifth St.
There will be a community pork chop dinner at 5:30 p.m. There will be a free-will donation for the meal.
River Valley Christian Women will wrap up season
The River Valley Christian Women's Connection will hold its "That's a Wrap" brunch at 10:30 a.m. Monday May 13 in the St. James Hotel's Laurentine Room.
Cancer survivor Ann Henzlik will present "Who am I?" The Chisago City, Minn., resident will talk about how she found a way out of a "no-way" situation.
