Vasa Lutheran serves dinner

Vasa Lutheran Church will serve a free community dinner of Swedish meatballs Wednesday Dec. 11. Dinners are the second Wednesday, serving from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. through May. For more information, call 651-258-4279.

‘We Three Spies’ comes to New River

Children of New River Assembly of God Church are presenting the Christmas program "We Three Spies," which will be played out at 6 p.m. Sunday Dec. 15 in the sanctuary. Come to watch all that they have been working on and celebrate their success.

St. Paul’s holds meeting, prepares for Christmas

St. Paul’s Sunday school children will have rehearsal for their annual pageant at 10:30 a.m. Sunday Dec. 8. At the same time, there will be a congregational meeting in the Fellowship Hall to discuss constitution updates.

The Christmas program will be at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 15.

St. Paul’s also will hold Advent worship services at 6 p.m. Dec. 8, 15 and 22.

Firsts Presbyterian to stage ‘The Wonder’

The Christmas pageant at First Presbyterian Church, Red Wing, will be “The Wonder.” On Dec. 15 during the 10:30 a.m. worship service, the program will feature music and instrumentals from children, youth and adults.

Schultz plays the Cassavant for Advent meditation

Local organist John Schultz will perform a half-hour program of Advent music beginning at 12:15 p.m. Dec. 11 on First Presbyterian Church’s Cassavant organ during December.

A free-will donation will be collected for the soup and sandwich luncheon that will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

Sunday supper will be served

Sunday Supper/Loaves and Fishes is a full meal prepared and served free of charge and open to everyone. Aktion Club will serve the meal at 5 p.m. Sunday Dec. 8 at First United Methodist Church, 403 East Ave.

Make shawls for those in need

People who knit or crochet are invited to help make prayer shawls. They are blessed in prayer and made available to those who need healing and encouragement.

Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday Dec. 12 at 1845 Bohmbach Drive; 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 17 at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth; and 5:30 p.m. Thursday Dec. 19 at First Lutheran Church, Red Wing.

Area churches are welcome to contribute items to the briefs, which run every weekend on the Religion page.

The Republican Eagle prefers to have people submit items via email, including a phone number in case there are questions. The deadline is noon Wednesday.
