Red Wing police called in the assistance of Minnesota State Patrol Air Support early Monday morning to aid in the apprehension of a suspect who fled law enforcement.
At 2:16 a.m. Red Wing police received a call of a suspicious person in the vicinity of the Parkway Motel, 3425 Highway 61, according to a statement released by Red Wing police.
Upon arrival, an officer reported two individuals in a vehicle outside the motel. When the occupants noticed the officer, they drove off, officials said.
The vehicle was found stuck in a snow bank at 316 Hillcrest Drive. Red Wing Police Department K-9 arrived on scene, where a female suspect was found hiding under the deck of 316 Hillcrest Drive, according to police. She was transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning and later released.
At 6:12 a.m. officers received a call from Wal-Mart, 295 S. Tyler Road, of a suspicious male. While law enforcement checked the store, the suspect exited through a rear door, officials said.
The suspect, identified later as Nicholas Orr, 28, Zumbrota, was tracked to Red Wing Avenue, where he was found hiding under an RV, police said.
Orr was arrested on a felony warrant out of Blue Earth County and also booked on fourth- and fifth-degree assault charges, and fleeing in a motor vehicle and on foot, according to the statement.
