Business Notebook: Schutz is Caregiver of Year
Ebenezer Deer Crest will begin a partnership with Bluestone Physician Services next month.
Bluestone provides on-site primary care to residents in assisted living and memory care communities.
The partnership will include frequent on-site visits and ongoing communication through an online portal. This allows for patient health to be monitored carefully and for care plans to be customized, the company said.
•Mickie Schutz, a community life coordinator at Potter Ridge, recently was named the Aging Services of Minnesota 2014 District F Caregiver of the Year.
Schutz’s co-workers nominated her for the award, citing achievements such as an exercise class, developing the Potter Ridge Singers and getting residents involved in community projects.
“The Caregiver of the Year award is about honoring the very best of the best,” said Gayle Kvenvold, president and CEO of Aging Services of Minnesota. “This award provides us with the opportunity to show Minnesotans the face of the people who care for our loved ones when we cannot. Mickie Schutz is the kind of caregiver we all hope will be there for us when we need help.”
•Oliver’s Wine Bar is slated to open late summer, Tom Quanrud and Brian Schneider announced, according to the Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce. The bar will be located at 319 Main St. instead of the former Lily’s Coffeehouse.
The building, current home to the men’s Inspired Home and Flower Studio, will be expanded on the back side, with construction beginning once the snow melts.
•Thomas Overbeek has been appointed regional sales manager for Valley Craft Industries of Lake City.
Overbeek was previously regional sales manager for the Formica Corporation.
“(Overbeek) knows how to create new opportunities and grow business with existing customers,” said Douglas Gates, Valley Craft Industries director of sales and marketing. “Tom will play a key role in our efforts to deepen relationships with existing customers while developing new channels, new markets and new products to grow our business.”
