Boys Tennis: Winona Cotter edges Lake City

Playing four matches this week, the Lake City boys tennis team fell short in its first match Monday, losing at home to Winona Cotter, 5-2.

The Tigers took two of three in doubles, winning the No. 1 and No. 3 pairings. The No. 1 team of Logan Adler and Peyton Fick won 6-2, 6-2 over the Ramblers’ Brennan Schaffner and Michael Deng. Lake City’s No. 3 pairing of Brandon Ormsby and Mitch Medvec won by a 6-3, 6-3 score over Sung-Woo Jang and Matthew Park.

At No. 4 singles, the Tigers’ Cort McElmury gave Cotter’s Andre Russeau all he could handle in a three-set match before falling 6-4, 1-6, 10-8.

Lake City is back on the court Tuesday against Stewartville, followed by matches with Shattuck-St. Mary’s on Thursday and Rochester Lourdes on Friday.
