Boys Tennis: Red Wing shuts out New Prague

A day after a good showing against a state-ranked team in Rochester Mayo, Red Wing got back into Missota Conference play Tuesday with a 7-0 skunking of New Prague.

Noah Christenson and Marcus Veith, at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, won 6-0, 6-0, while Alex Holm dropped a single game in his 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Alex Bettich had the most trouble of any Winger, but still clamped down a fourth singles win for Red Wing with a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

In the doubles portion of the match, the Wingers made sure to get things over with quickly. Isaac Toivonen teamed up with brother Travis to roll to a 6-0, 6-1 win as the No. 1 team while Nick Powers and Josh Lyons had a similarly easy time with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Nick Meyer and Ben Schaffer wrapped up the day with a 6-1, 6-1 decision.

Red Wing will turn its attention to Lakeville South on Wednesday, then to Chanhassen and Northfield the next two days.
