Boys Soccer: PIZM drops conference game to Kasson-Mantorville

Playing in a tough environment, the Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys soccer team nearly found a way to pick up a Hiawatha Valley League victory. But Kasson-Mantorville proved too tough, grabbing the conference win, 2-1.

"(It was a) well-played game by both teams," said PIZM head coach Peter Wiggins. "It was a hard-fought game with our players giving great effort. It's tough to beat K-M at their home field.”

Gilbert Wohlfromm scored the lone goal for the Wildcats (2-9 overall, 1-5 HVL) on assists from Matt Smith and Matt Lien.

Brady Holst made 10 saves in 65 minutes of action while Logan Douglas made one save on one attempt in 15 minutes.

The Wildcats will visit Rochester John Marshall Saturday then close out the regular season with two home games next week. Tuesday will see the Wildcats host Lake City, followed by a visit from Cannon Falls Thursday.
