Red Wing only scored one goal, but the defense helped make it a game-winner as the Wingers held on to a 1-0 Missota Conference victory Friday in Farmington.
At 14 minutes, 33 seconds in the first period, Alex Rezansoff capitalized on the 5-on-4 advantage after the Tigers' Kevin Olund went into the penalty box for interference with a power-play goal. Kyle LaPorte picked up an assist on the game-winning goal.
In the last two periods, Red Wing stopped everything that came its way despite Farmington holding a 14-11 shot advantage in the final two periods. the Wingers stayed disciplined with just one penalty, compared to four for Farmington.
Goaltender Preston Blaney came up with his first shutout of the season with 22 saves.
