Boys Hockey: Early lead not enough for Wingers

Dylan Goggin gave Red Wing a 1-0 lead 9 minutes, 50 seconds into the Wingers’ non-conference game against Rochester Lourdes Tuesday night. But the Eagles scored three times in the second period, including the game-winner at 2:53, to send Red Wing home with a 4-1 loss.

Tucker Chapman tied the game at 1:06 of the second, followed by Nick Roth’s game changer less than two minutes later. Mitch Brandhagen scored at 10:24 to finalize the middle frame.

Peter Alexander closed the scoring at 0:43 of the third period.

Red Wing had 25 penalty minutes on seven infractions while Lourdes was whistled three times for six minutes.

The Wingers did out-shoot the Eagles, 34-21, with Adam Defore making 17 saves in the loss.

On Friday, Red Wing (3-15) resumes Missota Conference play at Farmington.
