Boys Basketball: Tigers' skid snaps in win over Pine Island
Thanks to big nights from Reid Lundell and John Brown, Lake City ended a five-game losing streak with a 63-54 Hiawatha Valley League victory over Pine Island at Lincoln High School in Lake City.
Lundell scored 13 of his team-high 25 points at the free-throw line, and Brown finished with a career-high 10 points. Eli Custer and Jesse Oliver tacked on nine points apiece to help the Tigers’ cause.
Lake City trailed 31-27 at halftime, but went into the locker room on an 8-0 run after trailing by 13 earlier in the half. Up by two midway through the second half, the Tigers added an eight-point run, capped off by a Brown layup that put the home team up by 10.
Back in the win column, Lake City (3-7, 2-5 HVL) plays host to Ellsworth on Friday, Dec. 27.
