Boys Basketball: Tigers' balance too much for Cougars

Eli Custer’s career-high 15 points and 13 rebounds helped Lake City on Monday to a 71-51 Hiawatha Valley League win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa in Zumbrota.

Brady Kuchinka had another solid night with 13 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Reid Lundell and Cory Dick each finished with 12 points in the Tigers’ victory.

For the Cougars, Ellis Hirman had a team-high 14 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Jacob Ugland added nine points and 10 rebounds, and Kurt Gadient finished with eight points.

Buckets were hard to come by for the home team as Z-M shot 34 percent from the field (15 of 44).

Lake City (12-9, 9-7 HVL) hosts Kenyon-Wanamingo on Friday. Z-M (5-13, 3-11 HVL) looks to return to the win column Friday at home against Triton.
