Boys Basketball: Second-half push puts Pine Island past Goodhue
Goodhue had four players finish with double-digit points, but Pine Island’s second-half surge put the home Panthers past the Wildcats for a 55-54 Hiawatha Valley League victory Thursday.
Led by Ben Warneke’s 20 points, Pine Island outscored Goodhue 33-21 in the second half after trailing by 11 at halftime.
Tyler Schumacher paced the Wildcats with 12 points, while Riley Bollum had 11 points and Riley Augustine and Jacob Pasch had 10 points apiece. Alex Thomforde hauled in eight rebounds in the loss.
Losers of four of its last six games, Goodhue (11-9, 5-9 HVL) looks to return to the win column Friday at Dodge Center.
