Bluegrass group Monroe Crossings returns to perform live
Monroe Crossing performs a blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel and originals at 7:30 p.m. Friday April 11. The five-member band returns to play at the Zumbrota State Theatre.
The Minnesota-based ensemble plays an average of 125 shows a year at major venues and festivals – including Carnegie Hall in New York City last year.
Group members include Derek Johnson on guitar, lead and harmony vocals; Lisa Fuglie on fiddle, mandolin, lead and harmony vocals; Matt Thompson on mandolin, fiddle and baritone vocals; Mark Anderson on bass and bass vocals; and David Robinson on banjo.
Their paths crossed through the music of Bill Monroe so they like to say they had a “Monroe Crossing.”
Among many honors, Monroe Crossing showcased at the International Bluegrass Music Association Convention and was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
