Red Wing Noontime Kiwanis will oversee the bouncy toys again this year during River City Days. Children may jump Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday at Bay Point Park. The cost is $2.

All proceeds go to scholarships.

Man kayaking Mississippi for breast cancer research

John Hatch will be kayaking from Red Wing to New Orleans to raise funds for breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic.

Hatch, formerly of Red Wing, is calling the trip Project 1658, after the number of miles he’ll be traveling on the river. He expects the journey to take about two and a half months and will begin on Friday morning.
