Baseball: Wildcats roughed up by Triton
The Goodhue baseball team got roughed up in a Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division doubleheader on Monday, getting swept by host Triton in Dodge Center. The Cobras won 16-6 in five innings in Game 1 before closing out the series with a 7-3 Game 2 victory.
In the first game, Riley Bollum went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Austin Buck had two hits, including a double, and a run scored for the Wildcats. Already trailing 7-3 after the top of the fourth inning, Triton tacked on nine runs in the bottom frame to put Game 1 away.
In Game 2, Buck and Tyler Schumacher led Goodhue as both players went 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Cobras' Jordon Deno pounded the ball in Game 2, going 3-for-3 with four RBI.
The Wildcats resume play on Tuesday, hosting eighth-ranked (Class 1A) Kenyon-Wanamingo.
