Baseball: Stewartville jumps on Z-M early for win

A four-run second inning helped propel Stewartville to a convincing 10-2 Hiawatha Valley League victory over Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Tuesday in Stewartville.

The host Tigers roughed up Cougars starting pitcher Michael Wicks for four hits and four runs, all earned, in 1 1/3 innings. Max Runkle and Takota Wieck each finished with a pair of hits for Stewartville.

Connor Hegseth went 2-for-2 with a double, and Cody Heitman was 2-for-3 in the Z-M loss.

The Cougars (1-3) are at Pine Island on Thursday.
