Zumbrota-Mazeppa suffered a 9-8 loss to Plainview-Elgin-Millville Friday evening after the Bulldogs scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning, thanks to two errors from the Cougars.

Z-M’s Connor Hegseth finished 2-for-3 with a double, and teammate Jacob Ugland ended up 1-for-3 with a double.

Ugland took the loss in relief, throwing 1 1/3 innings and giving up four hits and one walk. Alex Nelson started the game for the Cougars, his first of the season, throwing 2 2/3 giving up three hits and two walks and three earned runs.

Z-M (2-6) plays five games next week, beginning with a visit to Triton on Monday.
