Baseball: Red Wing's Boldt waits into the second day
Red Wing senior Ryan Boldt will have to wait at least another day to realize his dream of being drafted by a major league baseball team.
Before a knee injury in the Wingers' season-opening doubleheader on April 26 that required surgery, Boldt was considered by many a sure-fire first-round pick in the Major League Baseball First-Year Amateur Draft on Thursday night. ESPN's Keith Law had Ryan ranked the 13th best draft prospect and Baseball America had him as the 22nd-rated prospect before the injury while the MLB Network's Jonathon Mayo had Boldt at No. 39 this week.
But after falling out of the first two rounds and the first two Competitive Balance rounds, Boldt will again look to get drafted Friday during round 3-10.
Friday's picks will be announced live on MLB.com starting at noon.
