Goodhue picked up its first Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division victory of the season in a split with Zumbrota-Mazeppa in Goodhue.

Alex Thomforde threw a five-inning one-hitter in Game 1 as the Wildcats won 4-1. He allowed one unearned run and struck out one.

"He did a really nice job of getting on top of hitters tonight and staying in the strike zone," Goodhue head coach Eric Schofield said. "Our defense really backed him up tonight."

Riley Bollum was 2-for-2 with two RBI and Andy Johnson went 1-for-2 with an RBI in the victory.

The Cougars' Cody Krueger was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

In Game 2, Z-M's Jacob Ugland pitched a five-inning shutout, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out four as the Cougars won 3-0.

Krueger finished 1-for-2 and Jordan Thompson was 1-for-2 with a run scored for Z-M.

Thomforde went 2-for-3 with a double for the Wildcats (4-11, 1-7 HVL Blue) and Johnson was 1-for-2 with a double.

The Cougars will host Lake City Wednesday and Goodhue will face Pine Island at home on Thursday.
