With two out in the top of the first, Buck cranked out a double, and Peterson followed that up with a two-run home run to give the Wingers an early edge.

The Winhawks got a run in the bottom of the first from an RBI single by Chris Hansen, and then tied the game in the third when with the bases loaded, Dylan Moger was hit by a pitch, allowing Drew Thompson to score.

Then with one swing of the bat in the fifth, Buck put Red Wing back in the lead with a solo home run, his third homer of the season.

Even after Winona tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, the Wingers didn’t falter, putting up a pair of runs in the sixth. Cody Leitner, the No. 9 batter, brought in the eventual game-winning run with an RBI single that brought home Ryan Jones. The next batter, Jakob Meyer, added an insurance run with another RBI single that scored Corey Hawe.

Tait Kelly got the start for Red Wing, going 4 2/3 innings before Duden came in relief, getting the win after getting the final out in the fifth.

Buck was the Wingers’ top hitter with a 3-for-3 outing with two runs and an RBI, and he got the save after striking out three and giving up just one hit in two innings pitched.

The Winhawks had three players with two hits: Thompson, Hansen and Isaac Pape.

Red Wing (4-10) is scheduled to play a pair of road game Thursday, against Chaska at 4:30 p.m. then at Shakopee at 7:30 p.m.
