Baseball: Kelly selected as finalist for Mr. Baseball award
Red Wing's Pat Kelly is one of seven finalists for the 2011 Minnesota Mr. Baseball Award, which is presented to a senior athlete.
A banquet to announce the award winner and to honor the finalists will be held June 20 at Jax Café in Minneapolis.
Apple Valley's Aaron Gretz, Holy Angels' Lucas Long, Centennial's Austin Malinowski, Robbinsdale Cooper's Max Murphy, Eden Prairie's Tony Skjefte and Hill-Murray's Rob Youngdahl also are finalists for the award.
A panel of Major League Baseball scouts and college baseball coaches chose the finalists.
Tickets for the banquet, which runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m., can be purchased at www.minnesotaminutemen.com. The cost is $35 per ticket.
