Baseball: Goodhue drops low-scoring game to Pine Island
Ben Warneke pitched seven strong innings to lead Pine Island in a 2-1 victory against Goodhue Thursday in Goodhue.
Warneke gave up four hits and one walk to go along with nine strikeouts. He also went 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.
Andy Johnson threw a complete game for the Wildcats (4-11, 1-9 HVL Blue), allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three. He was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored at the plate. Logan Breuer was 1-for-3 in the loss.
Goodhue got a runner to third base in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs but Warneke got a game-ending strikeout.
The Wildcats play a doubleheader against Cannon Falls Friday in Cannon Falls.
