The offenses were on display in the first inning, but it was Cannon Falls that kept the bats hot in a 9-5 victory over Lake City Thursday evening.

Bryce Boyle-Hoban led off the game with a solo home run, and Jonathon Sharot followed with an RBI single later in the first inning. The Tigers responded with a three-spot in the bottom half with base hits from John Brown, Reid Lundell, Jarret Thomas and Luke Hartzell.

The teams traded runs in the second and third with the Bombers tying the game in the top of the second. Cannon Falls took their final lead of the game in the bottom of the third on a Hartzell sacrifice fly.

Two walks, a single and an error allowed the Bombers to score two runs in the fifth, adding one more on Carter Dombeck’s sac fly.

Lake City added a run moments later, but a run in the sixth, and two more in the seventh, allowed the Bombers to head out of town with a Hiawatha Valley League victory.

“Our boys played a nice game in Lake City today,” said Cannon Falls head coach Bucky Lindow. “I liked our energy level and the way we played with passion. We felt fortunate to be able to play today considering the many places in the state where baseball could not be played due to the weather.”
