Art, poetry share spotlight at Depot
"Poetry in Art," an exhibition of poetry-inspired paintings and other works of art, will open Aug. 13 at the Red Wing Arts Association Depot Gallery, 418 Levee St., and remain on display through Sept. 27.
A public reception for artists and poets will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15, with poetry readings at 7 p.m.
The reception also will celebrate the newest public sculpture on display in the Depot garden - "Interstellar Record," created by Minneapolis artist Sara Hanson and members of the Interact Studio.
The exhibit will feature works from a book and works by a local poet.

It includes Stockeler's paintings of places throughout the world and Weber's accompanying poetry.
The writings of Robert Hedin, Red Wing's poet laureate, will be displayed with artwork by other artists. Poems from Hedin's book "The Old Liberators" is being matched with related artwork or artwork created to illustrate the poetry.
