Arnold Charlson, 81
Arnold "Arnie" Gerald Charlson, 81, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 24, at Deercrest.
He was born on June 18, 1932, in Red Wing, to Norman and Emma (Boesch) Charlson. He attended schools in Red Wing and for a few years worked on the family farm. On June 14, 1956, he married Janet Kann at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He worked in construction before starting Charlson Excavating, which he owned and operated until his retirement.
Janet died on June 30, 2010. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed travellng and spending time in Florida during the winter months.
Survivors include one sister, Darlene (Jack) Tomhave of Red Wing; two brothers, Norman (Kathy) Charlson Jr. of Montana and Delbert of Austin, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
