Area amateur baseball: Miesville 4, Lake City 2

The Mudhens found themselves down 2-1 for the majority of the game, but a clutch eighth inning where they plated three runs pushed them ahead for the home victory Sunday afternoon.

Luke Rasmussen picked up the win for the Mudhens. He went eighth innings, striking out ten Lake City batters and allowing only one earned run.

"He battled," Miesville's Matt Van Der Bosch said. "He didn't have his typical stuff working but he battled through it. (Lake City) didn't hit the ball solid at all."

Miesville finally got their leadoff guy on in the crucial eighth, which included a big double off the wall by David Olson.

"We just couldn't get that two-out hit early on," Van Der Bosch said.

Brian Meyers recorded the save for the Mudhens, who are winners of three straight. He came on in the ninth and struck out the side.

Miesville's next game is Wednesday evening, when it hosts the Minneapolis Angels at 8 p.m.
