Area amateur baseball: Bay City 7, Hager City 5
The Bombers scored five runs in the eighth inning to overcome a slow start and win at home Sunday. Dustin Frandrup delivered the big hit that inning as he smacked a three-run double with two outs.
Hager City led 4-0 after five innings, but the Bombers plated two in the bottom of the sixth. One of the runs came in on Blake Schammel's RBI double with two outs.
"That kind of got us going," Bay City player/manager Tony Schultz said.
Cole Kuesel came on in relief and earned the win for the second time in as many days. He pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run.
Bay City improved to 9-8 overall and 6-6 in the St. Croix Valley League. Its next game is Friday at Osceola.
