Anti-fracking bus trip to stop in Red Wing en route to Capitol
A group of southeastern Minnesota residents seeking stronger regulations for silica sand mining will travel by bus Tuesday to deliver a petition to Gov. Mark Dayton. The route will include a 9:50 a.m. stop in the Pottery Place parking lot.
The petition was started by the Land Stewardship Project at the Citizens’ Frac Sand Summit held Jan. 18 in Winona. More than 5,000 Minnesotans signed the document calling for a two-year frac sand mining moratorium in the area and “tough state-level regulations to protect air and water quality,” according to a news release.
