In the opening game of the inaugural Josh Harrison Memorial Tournament, the Cannon Falls Bears were downed 7-3 by the Eagan Bandits Thursday at John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.
Cannon Falls was limited to three hits — from Nate Otto, Ryan Brintnall and Zeke Williams. All three of the Bears runs came in the fourth inning, thanks to an RBI single by Brintnall and an error at second base that allowed a pair of runners to score.
The Bandits were led offensively by Roy Larson, who hit two home runs with a solo shot in the first and a two-run homer in the fifth. Eric Peterson also went deep for Eagan with a two-run homer in the top of the first.
Northfield 7, Lake City 4
The Lake City Serpents fell to 2-5 overall following a 7-4 loss to the Northfield Knights Wednesday at Lake City.
Northfield’s had a pair of hitters – Nick Denn and Dave Picha – finish with three hits and two RBI, with Picha knocking a double. Chris Paradise was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs, and Scott Paulson scored twice in the victory.
For Lake City, Ben Edelbach was 2-for-4, and Zachary Wolfe went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kyle Sursely was pegged with the loss after giving up seven runs on eight hits and 11 walks while striking out eight.
The Serpents and Knights will face off again on June 18, this time at Northfield.
Minneapolis Lakers 6, Miesville 0
Going to Miesville for a non-league game Wednesday, the Minneapolis Lakers came away with a 6-0 shutout victory at Jack Ruhr Field.
Leading the Lakers was Jeff Miller, who had two hits, including a home run, with three RBI. Nick Reichert chipped in with a pair of hits, including a double, and an RBI, and Chris Samanant was 3-for-3 at the plate. Minneapolis’ offense was strong throughout the game, with eight of the nine Laker starters collecting hits.
Zumbrota 10, Wanamingo 1
In Twin Rivers League play Wednesday, the Zumbrota Tigers rolled through the Wanamingo Jacks for a 10-1 victory in Zumbrota.
Zumbrota roughed up Wanamingo’s pitching to the tune of 16 hits, compared to just three for the Jacks. No other statistics were available.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday against the Kasson Coyotes.
