Amateur Baseball: Red Wing goes undefeated at Aces Invite

Red Wing wrapped up the Aces Invite Saturday with a whirlwind 8-7 victory in 12 innings over the Fairmont Martins at the Red Wing Athletic Field.

The Aces trailed 7-0 after 6 1/2 innings before scoring seven runs in their final three at-bats to send the game to extra innings.

Zach Garner walked to start the 12th inning for Red Wing, was bunted to second and scored on a two-out single by Kyle Blahnik to complete the come-from-behind walk-off victory.

Blahnik finished 2-for-6 with two RBI while Adam Thygesen went 1-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Aces. Steve Boldt threw the final two innings, walking two and striking out two in the win.

Red Wing was outhit 13-8 by the Martins and left 14 runners on base but walked 11 times. The Aces' two runs in the ninth inning, tying the game at 7-7, came with the bases loaded via a hit-by-pitch and a walk.

Fairmont scored two runs in the fourth inning, two in the sixth inning and three in the seventh inning for a 7-0 lead.

Red Wing will host the Menomonie Eagles Tuesday at the Ath.
